General

Do you require a credit card to book an appointment?

Yes. All appointments must be held with a credit card to make sure that we honor the time we've set aside just for you. We are only able to work one-on-one with our clients, so once an appointment time is booked we are not able to book anyone else.

What is the Spa's cancellation policy?

24 hours. We ask that you give us a full 24 hours notice if you must cancel or change your appointment. The full service cost will be charged for any no-show appointment. 50% of the full menu price will be charged for same-day cancellations.

What time should I arrive for my service?

If this is your first time at the Spa, we ask that you arrive at least 10 minutes prior to the start time of your service so you will have time to fill out any paperwork.

If you're a returning client, we ask that you arrive at least 5 minutes prior to the start time of your service.

What if I'm late for my appointment?

Arriving late will reduce the time for your spa treatment, lessening it's effectiveness and your enjoyment. As your service was reserved for a specific time, your treatment will end at it's set time so that the next guest is not inconvenienced. The full menu price will be charged.

Certain services such as waxing may need to be rescheduled and full menu price will be charged.

What payment options do you accept?

We accept MasterCard, Visa, American Express, Discover, cash, and Sanctuary Spa gift certificates. At this time we do not accept Spa Finder and are not affiliated with Groupon.

How and when should I make my appointments?

Scheduling online is the fastest and easiest way to reserve the most convenient appointment time for you.

We encourage you to schedule your services well in advance as we tend to stay very busy. Nights, weekends and couples massages book up quickly and may require 2-3 weeks advance notice.

What if I have special medical conditions?

Please let us know of any special needs or concerns when you book your appointment. Your therapist will also review your health history with you before beginning your service. If they believe that the service you are scheduled for is unsafe based on any information given, they may recommend canceling the service, booking another service or modifying the service to make it safe for you. As we are most concerned about your safety and comfort,we reserve the right to refuse service to any guest at any time.

What should I wear during my treatment?

Please disrobe to the level of your comfort in order to enjoy your service. Our therapists are fully trained in proper draping procedures to ensure your privacy and comfort.

Can I bring my kids to The Spa?

While we do offer services for minors, for the comfort of all guests, if they are not scheduled for an appointment, we ask that they do not accompany you for your service.

We also have Gift Certificates that can be purchased in the Spa.

Massage Therapy

How Often Should I Get a Massage?

Every day! Well, maybe that's not practical. (Even though it would be nice!) The real answer is that it all depends on WHY you're coming in for massage. Do you get massages for health benefits? Are you seeking massage to help you relax and handle the stress of everyday life? Most likely it's a combination of the two. Let's look at some of the most common reasons to get regular massages:

- Relaxation & Stress Relief: Every 2-4 weeks.

- Sports Recovery: 2 massages a week or at least 3 times a month.

- Chronic Health Conditions: 2-4 massage sessions per month.

- Pregnancy: Once or twice a month, especially in the third trimester.

Your massage therapist will work with you to help you get on the best schedule for your body.

What should I expect during my first massage therapy visit?

We ask that you arrive at least 10 minutes prior to the start of your appointment to fill out a health history form. Your massage therapist will begin by asking you general questions to establish what areas you would like worked on, if there are any conditions that need to be addressed, and to determine if massage is appropriate for you. Your massage therapist may also perform certain assessments and testing to evaluate your condition.

Where will my massage session take place?

Your massage or bodywork session will take place in a warm, comfortable, quiet room. Soft music may be played to help you relax. You will lie covered on a table especially designed for your comfort.

What do I wear during the massage?

Your massage therapist will give you privacy to undress. You will be covered with a sheet and blanket at all times, only the area being worked will be undraped. For a full body massage, most people undress completely. However, you may choose to wear underwear.

What do I do during a massage?

Make yourself comfortable. If your therapist wants you to adjust your position, she or he will either move you or will ask you to move what is needed. Otherwise, change your position anytime to make yourself more comfortable. Many people close their eyes and relax completely during a session; others prefer to talk. It's up to you. It is your massage, and whatever feels natural to you is the best way to relax. Do not hesitate to ask questions at any time.

Will the massage oils used make me break-out?

We use hypoallergenic massage oils and gels. However, if you have sensitivity to certain types of oils please write this on your health history form AND bring it to the massage therapist's attention.

Will my massage hurt or be painful?

No. Many people believe that a massage has to hurt in order to be effective. It doesn’t! You’ll be happy to hear that the saying “No pain, no gain” doesn’t apply to massage therapy. Sometimes the most effective massages are the ones that don’t cause you any pain. With that being said deep tissue massage might cause some discomfort.

What's the difference between pain and discomfort?

Muscles naturally react to any sort of discomfort. When your muscles feel that your body is about to be injured, the reflex to deflect the perceived threat is stimulated. When your muscles have been tight for a long time or you have an injury, this response is more easily triggered, but does not necessarily mean that too much pressure is being applied. If, however, your massage therapist is ever applying too much pressure, please ask them to use less pressure. Seriously, they want you to.

Discomfort is fairly normal in areas where more work is needed. You're more than likely coming in for a massage because of pain or discomfort and these areas will probably be a bit tender. Everyone has different tolerances for pain, so a massage that is painful for one peson may not be painful for you. If you find that your massage therapist isn't working between your tolerance levels for pain, it's important that you say something. Massage should almost never cause you physical pain and very rarely leave you with marks on your body afterwards.

If you are scheduling your fist massage, we would not recommend starting out with Deep Tissue. It's best to ease your way into massage therapy to give your body a chance to adjust to treatment. Our therapists are highly trained professionals, many of whom have been in the field for over a decade. Your massage therapist will help you figure out a treatment plan for your first session and beyond.

Why do I need Lymphatic Drainage Therapy after my liposuction, Smart-lipo, Cool Sculpting, or other cosmetic surgery procedure or chemotherapy?

After procedures like these, it's common to notice a hardness or lumpiness in the area treated. This post-surgical lymphedema is caused by inflammation and traum under the skin. Manual Lymph Massage helps to move the fluid by gently pumping it back into the lymph vessels. Without Lymph Massage (LDT or MLD) the inflammation can evolve into fibrosis (a permanent hardening of the tissue) or a seroma (a pocket of serum) can form. Many doctors prescribe Lymph Drainage Therapy after these procedures to make sure their patients get the best possible results from their procedure.

It's important to understand that Lymphatic Drainage Massage is a specific form of bodywork designed to efficiently move lymph fluid in your body. It is completely different from a Deep Tissue or relaxation massage. Stimulation of the Lymphatic System activates the para-sympathetic nervous system producing an automatic physiological relaxation response. Gentle, rotating, upward motions with the therapist's hands and fingertips begin at the collarbone area, then focus on areas where there is a concentration of lymph nodes in the underarms, abdomen, upper-thigh, and back of the knees.

Facials

Do I need to remove my makeup?

No, we’ll do that for you. Just relax, close your eyes and let us look after you.

Do I have to change before my facial?

Yes. We ask that you undress at least from the waist up. You will be covered with a sheet and blanket for the entire facial.

Who will be giving me my facial?

To ensure the highest-quality skincare, licensed estheticians will be giving you the facial using Skin Script RX Skin Care.

What products do you use in your facials?

Skin Script RX Skin Care is natural, clinical skincare designed for anti-aging, hyperpigmentation, melasma, sun damage, teen and adult acne, and rosacea. Antioxidants, exfoliants, and natural brighteners are the base of this skin care line to achieve remarkable results.

Will my skin look red afterwards?

Not usually, but it does depend on the sensitivity of your skin. You may be a little pink after a microdermabrasion or some of the peels. Speak to your esthetician and she can guide you to the appropriate facial to keep your skin calm yet glowing.

Can I wear makeup after my facial?

It's best to keep your skin clean of makeup for at least 24 hours. If you must wear makeup, be sure to cleanse thoroughly afterwards.

Can men get facials as well?

Yes! We have plenty of men come in for skincare. Our facials are designed for all skin types and genders.

I'm getting married or have a big event, when should I plan on getting a facial?

It's best to schedule your facial treatment 7-10 prior to your event.

How often should I have a facial?

We recommend that you come once a month, depending on your skin and skin care goals. Our highly trained, professional estheticians will help you find the right balance for your skin.

Why should I get regular facials?

Healthy skin is beautiful skin. Being proactive and looking after your skin on an on-going basis will help slow down the signs of aging and help keep your skin clear, healthy, and nourished. It's also important to maintaining your at-home skin care regime.

How do I continue the glow at home?

All of our products are available for home use. Your esthetician will recommend specific products for your skin type and specific conditions. An at-home regime is just as important as facials in maintaining healthy skin.

Waxing

How long does my hair have to be?

For best results, your hair length should be at least 1/4 inch long. When in doubt, it's better for your hair be longer than shorter. Usually at least three weeks of growth or if you can grab the hair between your thumb and index finger.

How often should I get waxed?

On average, we find that most waxing clients need to come in every three to five weeks. Once you start on a waxing program you'll notice that you have less hair growth between waxes and will be able to wait longer between appointments.

Does waxing hurt?

Yes, it can be uncomfortable. However, our licensed estheticians are well trained and do everything they can to make your waxing appointment as pain-free as possible.

How soon before I go on vacation should I get waxed?

The recommended time before going on vacation or preparing for any big event (ie. wedding day) is 2-3 days. This will allow any redness to pass.

This is my first time, what can I expect?

Don't worry, there's a first time for everything! Please let your esthetician know that it's your first time and she'll walk you through the entire process step-by-step.

Bikini, Full Bikini, Brazilian - What's the difference?

"Bikini" removes hair from just the sides. "Full Bikini" removes hair from the top and sides. "Brazilian" removes everything - front, back, and everything in between.

Do you "double dip"?

Never. Ever. We take every step to ensure the highest level of sanitation.

What type of wax do you use?

We use Cirépil blue hard wax. Cirépil wax encapsulates the hair, rather than sticking to the skin, removing it from the root while leaving the skin undamaged which reduces the pain of waxing by 50%! When the integrity of the skin is uncompromised, there is reduced inflammation and redness; making painful waxing a thing of the past!

We use Tea Tree Creme Wax. It leaves skin silky smooth while protecting it from dryness and irritation with the soothing and healing properties of Tea Tree Oil. This gentle wax melts at a lower temperature and allows for a more comfortable treatment.
